Description
On May 10, 1869, 147 years ago, a Golden Spike was driven into the tracks at Promentory Summit in Utah symbiolizing the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad, crossing the entire continent of North America from the Atlantic to the Pacific Oceans. The significance of this event in the history of our nation should never be overlooked, so although we will be operating on May 7, three days before the actual anniversary, we can still celebrate this achievement of technology on this day. We are planning demonstrations of trackwork and other railroad tasks for this day, and of course, our knowledgeable volunteers will be everywhere ready to answer questions and provide information for this wonderful and educational experience.
Trains will depart the Bonsal Depot at 11:00am, 12:15pm, 1:45pm, and 3:00pm. Visitors should arrive at least one half hour (30 minutes) before the departure time of the train they wish to ride to allow time to pick up tickets and board the train.
Tickets may be purchased online at our website (www.TriangleTrain.com) now.
The facilities at Bonsal include the train along with our outdoor display of historic and heritage railroad equipment, operating G-Gauge model railroad, gift shop, food trucks, and perhaps a few other pleasant surprises.
