Veteran's Day 5k Walk/Run

For the fourth year in a row VFW Post 6722, The Ernest Simmons Post of Lillington, will host their Veteran?s Day 5k walk/run this Saturday, November 7th. The event is open to all ages and abilities so whether you are a competitive runner or just someone looking to support a good cause and walk with you canine companion, please come out and join us. Awards will be presented to the top three male finishers, to the top three female finishers, and to the top three finishers (both sexes) in each of the following age divisions: 9-under, 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60-over. Registration begins at 7:30 and costs $30, the National Colors will be presented by the Harnett Central High School Junior ROTC at 8:30 a.m. and the race will begin at 9:00 a.m. The previous three events have been an overwhelming success raising nearly $5,000 for military charities. The Post does not keep any of the proceeds raised and this year?s benefactors are the Harnett County Veteran?s Council Scholarship Program and the North Carolina house at the VFW National Home for Children in Eaton Rapids, Michigan. VFW Post 6722 looks forward to seeing you in front of the flag poles at the Harnett County Courthouse this Saturday.
