Environmental Educator (Training & Video Support)
Swamp School | Apex, NC | On-Site | Full-Time (Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM)
Swamp School is seeking an Environmental Educator with a Bachelor of Science (BS) in a life science field and experience supporting video production to work closely with our Lead Environmental Educator in the preparation and delivery of professional environmental and technical training.
This is a science-first, support-focused role. Video production and editing are used as tools to support accurate, consistent training content developed under the direction of the Lead Environmental Educator. This is a full-time, on-site position for a trained scientist who values precision, follows established workflows, and takes pride in supporting high-quality work behind the scenes.
This is a professional training support role, not a classroom teaching or public outreach position.
This position reports directly to the Lead Environmental Educator.

We produce webinars, online courses, blogs, and in-person classes that rely on scientific rigor, technical accuracy, and consistency. Our content is used nationwide by professionals who depend on correct application of environmental science in real-world decision-making.
Position Overview
This role supports the organization, preparation, and production of science-based training content developed by the Lead Environmental Educator. The Environmental Educator works within established content frameworks and production workflows to ensure materials are accurate, consistent, and professionally produced.
Success in this role means making the Lead Environmental Educator’s work easier and more efficient through reliable execution and attention to detail.
Primary Responsibilities (Science-Focused)
- Supporting the preparation and organization of environmental and life science training content
- Working closely with the Lead Environmental Educator to maintain scientific accuracy and consistency
- Reviewing and supporting written materials related to environmental science topics
- Preparing training presentations, figures, and instructional resources according to established standards
- Assisting with live and recorded environmental and technical training sessions
- Following documented workflows to ensure quality control, accuracy, and consistency
Secondary Responsibilities (Video & Production Support)
- Editing recorded webinars and training videos using professional video software
- Assisting with the production of science-based instructional videos developed by the Lead Environmental Educator
- Supporting webinar setup, recording, and post-production
- Using standard office and media software to support training delivery
- From time to time, assisting with retail support and customer interaction for the Marsh Magic educational science program
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in a life science field (biology, environmental science, ecology, natural resources, or closely related discipline) — required
- Ability to understand and work accurately with science-based and technical material
- A unique skillset that combines formal scientific training with hands-on experience in video production and editing, and a strong willingness to learn
- This role requires careful attention to detail and comfort working with precise, technical environmental content
- Hands-on experience using video production or editing software, such as:
- Camtasia
- Adobe Premiere Pro
- Final Cut Pro
- DaVinci Resolve
- or similar tools
- Comfortable using computers and standard office software
- Reliable, organized, and able to follow structured workflows and direction
- Able to work on-site, Monday–Friday
- This position is fully on-site; remote work is not available
Helpful, but Not Required
- Experience supporting professional training programs or webinars
- Experience with technical documentation or educational materials
- Familiarity with environmental regulations or applied environmental science

Schedule & Location
- On-site in Apex, NC
- Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Full-time, stable schedule (not freelance or contract)

- $18–$22 per hour, based on experience
