In this part-time role, you’ll help strengthen the Chamber’s impact by supporting volunteer committees, coordinating engagement activities, and serving as a key connector across our vibrant business community. Your work will directly support our mission to add value for members while fostering collaboration and partnerships throughout Apex.

Volunteer Relationship Coordinator
Part-Time (15-20 hours per week)
$20 per hour
Reports to: Business Development and Operations Manager
Direct Reports: None
Job Location: (Hybrid) Mostly offsite with occasional time spent on location for programs and events.
The Apex Chamber of Commerce is seeking a self-motivated, people-focused, and community-minded individual to join our team in a part-time role that strengthens our connections and impact. This position plays a key role in helping us serve the business community—and the community at large—through meaningful programs, volunteer-driven committees, and events that add value to our members.

They enjoy working with people from all walks of life, spotting opportunities for connection, and helping others get plugged into causes and activities that matter. Whether coordinating a committee, greeting a volunteer, or assisting at a community event, they are passionate about service and delivering a top-level experience.
This role focuses on growing and supporting member and volunteer engagement, guiding committee work, and providing exceptional service to those who participate in Chamber activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Committee Coordination
- Facilitate multiple committees (e.g., Ambassadors, Connections, Community Outreach, and Government Affairs) through scheduling, agenda setting, and follow-up.
- Work closely with volunteer leaders to facilitate effective and efficient meetings and produce mission-driven outcomes.
- Track membership, attendance, tasks, and progress.
- Volunteer Engagement & Support
- Recruit, onboard, train, and recognize volunteers.
- Assign volunteers to events, committees, projects.
- Monitor volunteer performance; gather and share feedback with chamber staff.
- Relationship Management
- Serve as liaison between volunteers, staff, and external stakeholders.
- Manage expectations, resolve issues, and maintain positive relationships across personalities.
- Event & Project Assistance
- Support event planning and logistics for the activities of the committees.
- Assist with marketing outreach for volunteer recruitment and committee engagement.
- Trends & Reporting
- Monitor volunteer engagement and committee effectiveness; propose improvements.
- Provide regular status updates to Chamber staff and leadership.
- Office Administration
- Limited basic office administration duties, such as: membership database management, customer service activities, answering calls/emails, and interacting with people.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Familiarity with ChamberMaster (membership management software) or other customer relationship management platforms.
- Strong project management capabilities to handle several events and projects at once.
- Excellent customer service touch to navigate personalities of all kinds to ensure a positive outcome.
- Strong interpersonal & communication skills – able to inspire, mediate, guide, and connect with varied volunteer personalities.
- Organized & detail-oriented – adept at managing schedules, records, and logistics.
- Experience working in nonprofit, volunteer, or event-driven environments preferred.
- Proficiency in basic office tools (email, spreadsheets, document apps).
- Availability to attend functions and programs before, during and after regular office hours.
- Supporting other team members and contributing towards a positive work culture.
- Passionate about the Apex community and supporting local businesses.
- 15-20 hours/week, flexible schedule; must be available for events.
- Reports to Business Development and Operations Manager; works closely with Committee Chairs and Chamber staff.
- Hybrid arrangement: mix of remote coordination and in-person engagement at the Chamber’s office and at events.
